    Sassi di Matera

    UNESCO SITE

    Matera, Capital of European Culture and UNESCO heritage, is one of the oldest cities in the world which preserves evidence of rock settlements from the Palaeolithic to the present day. Matera is the city of the Sassi, the original urban core is developed starting from the natural caves, dug into the rock and subsequently modeled in increasingly complex structures, inside two large natural amphitheaters which are the Sasso Caveoso and the Sasso Barisano. Visit to a cave-house completely and furnished to include the habits and customs of the inhabitants of the ancient Sassi districts before their abandonment and to a Rupestre. To the historical walks of the visit to a bakery and tasting of Matera Bread which, thanks to its quality and organoleptic qualities, has become a PGI product. The "Pane di Matera" is a fragrant and fragrant bread, with a round or croissant shape, symbol of the city, made entirely with re-milled durum wheat semolina and natural yeast.
